Baby Laughs (for real!)

How funny is it that I came on here to post the video of Abby laughing, and see that the last post I made was about the first time she laughed!

Laughs between now and then were very few and far between, but now we've got her going on a regular basis! It is the BEST sound in the world! It can cheer me up from anything.


I can't believe it's been so long since I posted...I'm always trying to think of something fun and interesting to share, and then I think whatever I have isn't interesting enough, so, I'm just going to overshare and apologize in advance!

Let's see....what's happened....we had St. Patrick's Day! Matt and I have a party every year. We thought Abby would spend the night with her Nana and Grandpa, but we ultimately decided we'd miss her too much. Besides, she was having way too much fun at the party!
I love this picture...red hair, fists flying....no, she's not Irish at all, is she?! We won't get into the actual percentage, but we'll say the typical personality traits aren't skipping any generations. We'll try to keep her off the sauce for as long as possible.

We're starting to like tummy time more now! She'll actually sit there for a bit and look around and not cry! It's become part of our bedtime ritual. We'll strip her down to her onesie, and we'll all play on the floor for a bit. She'll even try to pull her legs up under her! She knows what to do to get up off the floor, it's just going to be a while before we get there! I think it's my favorite time of day!








Abby had her first professional photo shoot last weekend (at JC Penney) and we got some pretty good shots! As soon as we get them back we'll scan and post a couple. Hopefully soon we'll get to go see the Easter Bunny!

We're looking forward to getting outside to play more and more now that the weather is warmer!

Baby Laughs!!!

Ahhh!! Abby laughed today!

Matt was trying to put her down for a nap, but she missed him so much while he was at work that she thought it was a ton of fun when he was singing to her and rocking her, because she was sitting there smiling and cooing the whole time. At least three times she actually giggled!

We also went to the doctor's office for our 2 month visit (has it been two months already? it feels like she's always been here!). They say she's perfect, and I'd have to agree. We are blessed with a really good baby. I hate to think what her little brother or sister will be like! YIKES!

She's been sleeping through the night pretty consistently for a couple of weeks now. And I don't mean 5 or 6 hours...she's been giving us that since she came home from the hospital! I mean 10 solid hours of sleep! That should make going back to work a lot easier!

She also slept in her crib for the first time a couple of nights ago. Up until then she'd been in the cradle in our room, and usually napping in the crib. We'd tried to put her down in the crib at night a few times and she just wasn't having it. Then the other night we put her in there expecting to move her eventually, since I moved the cradle to put laundry away (yes, I put laundry away) and hadn't moved it back. Lo and behold....she stayed asleep! I missed her terribly that night! I even had a dream she'd been kidnapped! So far we've got two nights in the crib...

We also had Abby's first Valentine's Day! Her parents got her a card...which was funny. She certainly wasn't going to open it herself, and Matt and I had already read it...so I just took it out of the envelope and put it on the mantle with the rest of her valentines. Makes you wonder why we got her one doesn't it? But we couldn't NOT get her one!!

Matt had fun at the florist...He got Abby some flowers, and me some flowers. AND, Abby even got me some flowers. I wish I'd thought to take a picture, because they were beautiful! In return I made a nice dinner for us. Abby joined us at the table in her swing. It was a nice family Valentine's Day dinner!

Sleep and Smiles!

Our little lady smiled her first smile on January 15! She's a tough audience, and doesn't give them cheaply just yet. You certainly have to work for them. Here's the best picture I have so far. I'll update with a good one once I get it.


We tried out the crib for a nap last week just to get her used to it, and it didn't seem to phase her. We also played with her crib mobile. She LOVES it! She smiles and coos the whole time it's on, and even follows the lady bugs around and around with her eyes and her head. I've got a video of it. Once I get it on the computer I'll update this post with a link (the video camera still has videos on it from two Christmases ago...we never figured out how to get them on the computer!).

Last night, Abby slept from 11pm-6am! Seven whole hours! Mom and Dad feel like new people today! I'm sure it was a fluke, since I couldn't get her to nap all day. Today she'll sleep on the way to the Cape and back (we're going to go shopping with Kelly and Addy).

And here's our 'official' one month old photo. She's sleeping, because she was all tuckered out from the birthday party we went to that day (hence the party dress).

Looking Back Already!

Maybe it's some leftover hormones, but I'm getting all teary-eyed looking at these first pictures of Abby! It's amazing how much she's changed in just four short weeks!

Sure, she's still just a little lump of love, but she's awake more every day, and even makes noises that aren't crying or grunting! Today, I swear I saw a smile. Of course, I've spent all of her waking minutes since then trying to duplicate it to make SURE it was a smile before I go etching it in stone somewhere (and I think I have! Stay tuned). Even if it was just a hint of what's to come over the next few weeks, it definitely made everything over the last ten months (espe
cially this latest one!) worth it!
